The Power and Control Wheel is a tool I utilized while co-facilitating group therapy at a parol office for offenders who were recently released from incarceration.
Each wedge inside the wheel describes different methods utilized to gain power and control in a relationship. It is important to have knowledge of the tactics because they aren’t always as obvious or talked about as the actual physical abuse.
The wedges consist of the following topics:
Using Intimidation
Using Emotional Abuse
Using Isolation Minimizing, denying, and blaming
Using Children
Using Male Privilege
Using Economic Abuse
Using Cohesion and Threats
